Pure Thai Heritage in Germany

"Peerawat Fynn Braun – The Thai-Blooded Talent in Germany U18"
The Off The Bench team had the opportunity to speak with the family of Fynn Braun, and we are excited to share some fascinating insights about this promising young footballer with Thai football fans.
1. Who is Fynn Braun?

Peerawat Fynn Braun, or simply Fynn, is a 100% Thai-blooded footballer. He is the second son of Udom and Or Braun, a Thai couple living in Germany.
Born and raised in Germany, Fynn’s father, Udom, moved to the country at the age of 11, under the care of his stepfather. He even played competitive football in Germany’s 6th and 7th divisions during his younger years.
2. A Thai-Blooded Giant
Despite his full Thai heritage, Fynn stands at an impressive 192 cm at just 17 years old—and he is still growing. Given his father’s 185 cm frame and his mother’s 165 cm height, combined with a European upbringing and nutrition, his exceptional height comes as no surprise.
Fynn primarily plays as a center-back (CB), known for his strength, versatility, and ability to use both feet. His teammates have even given him the nickname "Fynn Dijk", a tribute to Virgil van Dijk, the towering Dutch defender of Liverpool, due to their similar playing styles and physique.
3. A Family That Fuels His Dreams

Fynn’s football journey is backed by his incredibly supportive family. His parents have been by his side through every challenge, helping him balance both football and education.
He attends school in the morning and trains in the evening, practicing four times a week on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, before competing in matches every Sunday. His parents take turns driving him to training and ensuring he stays on track.
4. A Football Connection with Thailand
Fynn has an older brother, who once traveled to Thailand for a short football trial with a local club but had to return to Germany due to personal reasons.
Interestingly, Achitpol Keereerom (Mai), a young Thai international striker playing in Germany, is close to Fynn’s family. Achitpol even stayed with them for a period while in Germany.
5. A Promising Start in German Youth Football
At 13 years old, Fynn joined DFI (Deutsches Fußball Internat), a prestigious football boarding school in southern Germany. Unfortunately, his time there was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, forcing him to return home, where his father took charge of his training.
As restrictions eased, Fynn earned a trial with SV Waldhof Mannheim, a club competing in Germany’s 3rd division (3. Liga). His performance convinced the club to sign him, and he remained with them until he was 15 years old.
6. Rising Through the Ranks in Germany
Fynn later secured a move to Karlsruher SC, a club competing in Germany’s 2nd division (2. Bundesliga).
He progressed through the ranks from U16 to U17 and is now a part of Karlsruher SC’s U19 squad.
Last season, in the U17 Bundesliga, Fynn played 25 matches and even scored three goals, establishing himself as a key player.
Karlsruher SC is located in Baden, Germany, where Fynn currently resides. The area is also home to clubs like Stuttgart and Hoffenheim, both of which have reportedly sent scouts to monitor his development.
7. A Call from the Thailand U20 National Team
Earlier this year, Fynn was called up to Thailand’s U20 national team under head coach Yuki Stalph for the March FIFA international window.
However, due to delays in document processing, he was unable to join the squad.
Despite this setback, his family remains open to the possibility of representing Thailand in the future. They expressed gratitude to the Football Association of Thailand for the opportunity and believe that there could be another chance down the road.
8. A Breakthrough with the Germany U18 National Team

Recently, Fynn’s name resurfaced in Thai media after he was selected to join the Germany U18 national team.
Out of over 320 players representing 20 different German states, Fynn made it into the final 26-player squad after passing multiple selection rounds.
He attended the Germany U18 training camp from October 27-30, 2024, under the guidance of Christian Wörns, a former defender for Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund.
His father, Udom, expressed his immense pride in seeing his son wear the Germany national team jersey, calling it a dream come true.
9. A Grueling Selection Process
The German Football Association (DFB) has one of the most rigorous youth selection systems in the world.
Unlike some national team selections that take just a few days, Germany’s process spans nearly a month, involving around 10 matches to ensure only the best players are chosen.
Every German youth national team follows this multi-stage scouting system, ensuring a high level of competition and quality in every squad.
10. The Road Ahead
Regardless of how things unfold with the Germany U18 team, Fynn’s parents will continue supporting him unconditionally—guiding him toward the best decisions for his career.
They firmly believe that he should have the freedom to choose his future, with the family standing by him no matter what.
And for Thai football fans, whatever path Fynn chooses—whether it’s representing Germany or Thailand—one thing remains unchanged:
🔴⚪🔵 He will always carry Thai blood and heritage with pride.
